About
Extra Yap
Welcome to a personal skincare project I have been working on since 2023.
Growing up, I've had my fair struggles with tackling acne and itchy skin. I know that finding proper skin care can be a draining and frustrating experience.
My goals are to provide effective, affordable products, and create a community where newcomers can access skincare related information.
The product selection is currently limited because this is a one man pilot project, but I’m looking forward to expanding the range if it takes off.
Thank you for taking the time to read. I hope you stick around !
Mission and Values (5)

Stop chasing trends, less is more
Simplicity
There's too much in skincare. Too many choices for a single problem, too many steps to achieve the next "perfect skin" trend. Who tf has time for that?
My goal is to simplify skincare so that your skin can look great whether you've got 5 mins or an hour to spare. The products are designed to tackle multiple skin concerns at once. Fewer steps, fewer products, more time, and more money in your pocket.
Skincare doesn't have to consume your life.

It has to work
Efficacy
Having skin issues suck. Not having the skincare to tackle them sucks even more -especially if time (research) and money were invested. Products. Must. Work. I believe that effective products can spark more interest in skincare and health, whereas ineffective products might create a sense of hopelessness and discourage one's curiosity and courage to explore.
We're all only given one skin, so might as well take care of it the best we can.

Inside out
Hollistic Healing
Sometimes we get absorbed in trying to figure out the best new routine, or the hottest new ingredient. However, part of my mission is to remind people that skincare doesn't always start with a toner or a serum. It starts from within. Proper hydration, a clean diet, adequate sleep are genuinely some of the best skincare out there.
It might sound dumb, but the end goal is for you to have healthy skin, not for you to purchase every new iteration of my cleanser or toner. The brand is a solution. What good is a solution if you're not seeing improvements?

Proper introductions
Culture
Chinese culture and products get mixed reviews from the modern public. However, the fact is, we take a lot of its valuable aspects for granted. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is one of them. It's been around for thousands of years and is often overlooked despite being the foundation of many practices in other East Asian countries. Even today, knowledge acquired from TCM is applied in skincare, with very little recognition for the benefits it provides. Working closely with labs in China, I'm hoping to bring you a glimpse into the modern advances of this art.

Safe spaces
Community
Finally, I thought building a brand could help me spread awareness regarding the indirect effects of skin health. I grew up without understanding what acne was, nor how to treat it. When I had pimples, I was insecure because of the shapes, the bleeding, the looks and the comments. And when all that was done, I was still insecure because of all the scars it left. So my objectives are to create a safe place online, but also to help local communities become more aware of solutions and support them in the ways they need.
